Pulung Nyepi is one of the traditional Balinese snacks originating from Sukasada Village in Buleleng Regency. It is named Pulung Nyepi, because this menu is a mandatory food for the Day of Pengerupukan, or the day before Nyepi. It is said that the tradition of presenting Pulung Nyepi has been carried out from generation to generation.

This snack is very simple, starting from the ingredients to the cooking process. The ingredients for making Pulung Nyepi can be easily obtained, namely rice flour, starch and grated coconut. To make this snacks, you have to mix the rice flour and starch, and then steam it. After that, the steamed mixture will be shaped like round or oval. After being formed, boil it untul it’s cooked, and voila! There’s your Pulung Nyepi. To add delicacy, you can sprinkle grated coconut on the top.

At a glance, Pulung Nyepi almost resembles Kolak Salak Seed, but without sugar sauce and coconut milk. You will feel the chewy and slightly sweet taste when this food goes into your mouth. For those who don't like sweet snacks, Pulung Nyepi is perfect for you. Because these snacks don't use sugar at all. Faint sweetness only comes from grated coconut. Not only that, Pulung Nyepi also includes non-cholesterol healthy snacks, since it doesn't use oil during the cooking process.
