Bali and Nusa Penida are two separated islands, but they both look beautiful. Well, if you’re in Bali and want to go to other travel spots outside the island, then Nusa Penida is the answer. It is one of the three islands that is located in southeastern Bali. To go there, you can choose between a fast boat or public ferry service.
There are several Bali port, from which you can take a boat to Nusa Penida: Sanur, Kusamba, Padang Bai, Toyah Pakeh Harbour, Buyuk Harbour, and Sampalan Beach. Sanur, Padang Bai, and Kusamba are the ports on mainland Bali. If you depart from Sanur, it takes about 45 minutes. Sanur is the most convenient port because it’s relatively near the tourist center in Bali. So, if this is your first time to go to Nusa Penida, Sanur is the best choice because you’ll find plenty of operators there. Anyway, just like Sanur, Kusamba also has frequent service and it takes around 40 minutes to go to Nusa Penida from there. But, there’s no tourist route.
You’ll get a different experience if you go from Padang Bai Port. This place is very interesting if you want to take your own vehicle to the island. You can go to Nusa Penida by taking a public ferry service from there. Also for your information, there are three landing ports on Nusa Penida that you can choose: Buyuk Boat Landing, Toya Pakeh Boat Pier, and Sampalan Boat Landing.
The boat ticket prices vary, depends on which boat you choose. It’s ranging around IDR 300,000 to IDR 500,000. So, before you go there, be sure to prepare your money and time. Because it’s unlikely you’ll find a ticket if you just show up 10-15 minutes before the morning boat. So, it’d be better if you sleep at the place near the port the night before your trip.
