The Archaeological Museum was officially founded on September 14, 1974. It is located on Jalan Raya Sukarno. The location is right on the edge of the road, so it's easy to find. Its location is not far from Penataran Sasih Temple and Kebo Edan Temple. Because it stands in Bali, this museum building follows the Balinese layout. The outermost page is called side jaba, middle page or middle jaba and inner page is called jeroan. Like many other buildings in Bali, on the outermost yard, there is a meeting room. The objects made of ceramics are thought to originate from the Ming, Song and Qing Dynasties. There are also more ancient, namely stupika from clay with Buddhist mantra carvings. Based on archeological research, this object has similarities with letters carved in Kalasan Temple.

There are more ancient collections that you can observe there. The jeroan building has a Protective Hall. In this section there are seven rooms. The discovery of sarcophagi and crock is on display in these spaces. Sarcophagus stores the bodies of people of high social status, dating from 2,000 to 2,500 years ago. All collections on display at this museum were obtained from the excavation process, purchases from collectors, and submitted by the inventors.
