The Balinese have certain habits that make visitors feel comfortable. Apart from the notion of Bali as a favorite destination for tourists, local people have a way to love one another. Either love your fellow human beings or love yourself. In the Balinese calendar, there is an important day, called Anggara Kasih. On this day, there’s a piodalan or sacred ceremony that has the important meaning behind it.

Anggara Kasih is conducted every Tuesday Kliwon or in the Balinese calendar on Anggara Saptawara, Pancawara Kliwon. Not every people in all areas perform this sacred ceremony. In northern and western Bali, it is still often held or once every 35 days. On this day, Ida Sang Hyang Widi cleans every blemish on Earth. Every time has a different meaning. For example, at Prangbakat time, prayer is requested from Ida Sang Hyang Ludra as one manifestation of Sang Hyang Widi. There is also today Balinese Hindus cleanse the inner impurities and the body. This is an expression of loving oneself, namely by avoiding doing bad things.

Various equipment was prepared before the worship began. Among other things are in the form of canang reresik, canang puspa fragrant, menyan astanggi, and fragrant smoke. The four items were given to Sang Hyang Ludra.

Menyan astanggi is made from Boswela type trees mixed with sandalwood, majagau and other spices. The aroma is really really fragrant. Based on Balinese Hindu beliefs, each equipment in the ceremony has a different meaning. While the equipment used when Anggara Kasih is dominantly in the form of fragrance is a symbol of the power of Sang Hyang Shiva.

The word 'Anggara' means holding out or giving. Then, 'Kasih' is also called 'Shanti' which means the manifestation of unconditional love. Anggara Kasih can be understood as an expression of peace or a form of friendship. After carrying out the prayer, the residents who followed the ceremony performed the Gocara metirtha. For those who are engaged, they will be given sesayut jati smara, sesayut pengipuk smara dan sesayut tulus dadi. The three offerings are provided with the intention that the relationship won’t break up in the middle of the journey.

Peace can be pedaled lovingly. As is the case in the practice of Balinese Hindu belief, Anggara Kasih. Unconditionally, love is praised so that the universe responds with the same thing. In carrying out worship, the pemadek wear traditional clothing. Women wear white kebaya tops and subordinate sarongs equipped with yellow belts. While men wear beskap tops or neat white clothes with sarong subordinates. Coupled with the iket that is neatly attached to their head.

How do you express love? In every place and various cultural backgrounds, people have a different way to express it. However, all of them have the same goal: to pray for peaceful and safety in all parts of the universe.
