A line of beautiful beaches on Nusa Penida is certainly a mandatory list of visits for you as charming and hidden beach lovers. Far from the crowds but its natural beauty is so ready to spoil you. It may be the reason why less tourists come to the beach around Nusa Penida. However, this is actually a bonus for you who want to enjoy a holiday with a peaceful atmosphere and feel like it is your own property.

Crystal Bay

One of the stunning beaches that you can visit around Nusa Penida is Crystal Bay. Originally named Pantai Penida, but because it has clear water like crystals, many visitors call it Crystal Bay. This beach is situated on west of Nusa Penida, precisely in Penida Bay, Banjar Penida, Sakti Village, Nusa Penida Sub-district, Klungkung Regency. Besides having crystal clear water, the Crystal Bay underwater ecosystem is still well preserved. It is a must for snorkelers and divers with the impressive coral reefs and tons of sea creatures to spot. Even swimming at the edge of the beach just makes you relax and forget reality. If you come here, it is highly recommended to come in the late afternoon. As this place is considered as one of the best spots to enjoy the sunset.

Renting a boat for fishing in the middle of the sea is also a fun thing to do. Lots of sea fish that you can catch, grill and enjoy it on the shoreline. Meanwhile, sunbathing on a soft powdery white sand becomes favorite activity for many foreign tourists under the warmth of the sun at Crystal Bay. From the edge of the beach you can see both Nusa Lembongan island and Nusa Ceningan island which are separated by the Ceningan Strait. On the left and right side of Crystal Bay beach is bounded by a promontory of hills makes Crystal Bay protected from the exposure of large waves so it tends to be safe to play water on this beach.

In addition, Crystal Bay is well known as one of the best dive spots in Bali. Although the currents tend to be unstable, you can find Mola-Mola, Blue Spot Pari, Trumpet Fish, Jackfish, Angel Fish, Sweet Lips, Tuna, Moorish Idols, and other types. It's better if you enjoy the Crystal Bay underwater at the best time on August to October each year so the visibility is quite clear and the waves aren't too big.

The coastline at Crystal Bay is jut to the land and surrounded by the green hills. Because of its location, the waves coming to Crystal Bay are blocked. Plus, there is an hectare coral island covering the area which is located about 50 meters from the beach. Its name is Mejinong Stone Island. Acting to cover the waves head to Crystal Bay. Interestingly, there is also a sacred temple named Pura Batu Jineng which stands on a rock. Many locals come to pray on certain days. In another area of Crystal Bay, another temple can be found, it is Sad Kahyangan temple called Pura Penida. Once you are satisfied playing sea water, you can rinse your body in the toilet available on the beach. You can also fill your empty stomach since you are tired of swimming by tasting seafood menu sold along Crystal Bay. 

Crystal Bay can only be reached by motorbike or rental car and no public facilities that can reach this place. You can go through several routes to reach Crystal Bay. If departing from Denpasar, take a speed boat from Sanur Beach or Pesinggahan Pier if you want to cross from Klungkung and book your final destination to Nusa Penida Harbor. In addition, you can also take a ferry, the price is relatively cheaper but it will take quite a long time, the name is the Roro Ship and you can find it at the Port of Padang Bai. After arriving at the port of Nusa Penida, you can rent a vehicle to get to Banjar Penida with a travel time of 30 minutes.
