Goa Giri Putri: A Temple Between Stalactite And Stalagmite.

Bali is an island that gets the nickname of a thousand temples. Every temple has its own uniqueness. It can be seen from the architectural buildings, historical stories, and locations. There’s even a unique temple located in the cave, you know!

Goa Giri Putri Temple

Different from other temple buildings, the temple located in the Nusa Penida area was built inside a cave. Its natural beauty, of course, is very charming. The location is at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level, with a length of 262 meters.

According to researchers' predictions, this temple has existed since the Neolithic era. In this day and age, humans are said to still live without norms and enforce the law of the jungle. The strongest ones are the survivors. To save lives, this cave was originally used as a place to take refuge. But as time goes by, this temple is then used for meditation. This temple was discovered in 1990. Since then, Goa Giri Putri Temple has been opened to the public.

In this cave, you can see stalagmites, stalactites, bats, and snakes. There are four main areas in the cave area that are used as an area for praying. The water inside the cave was used as holy water for ceremonies.

To enter it, you have to pass a very narrow road. After that, you will go through dozens of stairs to go to the main prayer place. Well, make sure you always have to be careful because the surface is very slippery. You can also see directly the Galungan and Kuningan ceremony processions in this cave if you come at the right time. However, unfortunately, there are no facilities in the temple. So, be sure to bring your own lunch when visiting Goa Giri Putri Temple.
