Looking At Nusa Penida From A Temple At The Highest Peak.

Some tourists might choose to come to a place with a lot of traditional buildings then mingle with the local people. However, maybe some of you also want to travel to a place that can make you ‘unite’ with nature. If so, Pura Puncak Mundi in Nusa Penida is the right place for you.

Nusa Penida Peak Mundi Temple

The area of this place is very beautiful and decorated with lots of tall green trees. In this place too, you can even meet wild monkeys who live in locations around the temple.

The uniqueness of this temple is indeed in its location which is at the highest peak of Nusa Penida. So, you will witness the beauty of temple architecture while enjoying the amazing scenery of Nusa Penida. As mentioned above, there are wild monkeys roaming this place. Therefore, be sure to keep your belongings well to avoid being taken by them to be used as toys. Most importantly, you don't hurt or bother them!

In the location, there are three different temples, namely Pura Beji, Pura Krangkeng, and Puncak Mundi Temple. Well, Puncak Mundi Temple is famous for being unique. There are padmasana with seams and four poles which are different in shape from the buildings in general. The temple's Padmasana is decorated with tendrils as a symbol of Shiva Buddha.

The temple, which is believed to have existed since 50 Saka, is located in the Dusun Rata area, Batukandik Village, Nusa Penida. Since this temple is located at an altitude of about 521 masl, you have to go up and down the road to get there. Fortunately, the road there is paved so it is convenient to pass. You need about 60 minutes if you depart from the port of Nusa Penida. Don't forget to bring warm clothes, because the air is quite cold there.
