Buleleng Harbour
Everybody knows that a port is the place where ships dock. But, who would have thought that the Port of Buleleng could be used as a place to relax! Buleleng Harbor is currently known as Buleleng Ex Harbour. If you happen to be in Buleleng Regency, you can visit this harbor which is located on Jalan Pelabuhan Buleleng, Kampung Bugis Village, Buleleng District, Buleleng Regency.
Buleleng Harbour was the largest port in Bali. Because Singaraja, which is the capital of Buleleng Regency, was once the capital of Nusa Tenggara. Therefore, this port became the main entrance to Bali in the past. But when the capital city was moved to South Bali, the activities in the Port of Buleleng slowly began to be left behind. Because of this condition, in 2005, the government of Buleleng finally declared an idea to make the Buleleng Harbour a simple tourist spot in North Bali.
The icon of this port is the Yudha Mandala Tama monument. This monument was built to commemorate the heroic events of the Balinese people against the Dutch colonizers, in the act of tearing down the red and white flag by the Dutch. This 12-meter high monument is now a flagship photo spot for visitors who are coming to the port area. After taking photos, you can walk to the bridge facing the beach to enjoy the sunset. Well, you will probably meet some residents who are fishing. While waiting for sunset to arrive, you can try to interact and have a little chat with the friendly residents. Who knows, you can get additional information about other interesting tourist attractions in Buleleng.
From the evening until nightfall, Buleleng Harbour will be crowded. Usually, there will be a lot of street vendors, so you can enjoy some culinary tours there. Besides food, you can buy some souvenirs and bring it home or give it to your special ones.
After wandering around the harbour, don't forget to stop by at Ling Gwan Kiong Temple near the east entrance. This pagoda with oriental-style architecture is often visited by Confucians to carry out worship and marriage. But, because of its unique architecture, there are often many visitors to get around and take photos. If you want to do the same thing, remember to keep quiet! Do not let your arrival disturb the worshipers.
It sounds exciting, doesn’t it? Well, the location that is in the center of Singaraja makes it easier for you to go to Buleleng Harbour. Have fun!
