I Nyoman Jayaprana is an orphan. His family died because of the plague that attacked his village. His situation didn’t make him fall into despair. Since childhood, he ventured to come and serve in the palace. Thanks to his dedication, the king gave Jayaprana the freedom to choose one of the court ladies or any girl outside the palace, to be his life companion. His heart was captivated by a girl, Ni Layon Sari Putri from Jero Bendesa from Banjar Sekar. Soon, the king then held their marriage on Tuesday Legi Kuningan.
However, it turned out that the king was also captivated by the beautiful Ni Layonsari. He thought of a way to separate the couple so that Ni Layonsari could become his wife. Then, on the 7th day of his marriage, Jayaprana was ordered by the king to go to Teluk Terima, to investigate the boat that had been destroyed by pirates. Jayaprana cannot refuse the king, and finally he departs to fulfill his duties.
Arriving at Teluk Terima forest, a patih named Saunggaling handed over a letter. In the letter, it was written the order that Jayaprana be killed so that Ni Layonsari could become the king's wife. Jayaprana remembered the kindness of the king who had raised him from childhood. He surrendered, and allowed I Saunggaling to kill him. When he stabbed by keris, Jayaprana released a fragrant smell, also a typhoon and earthquake struck the place. The story doesn’t end there. Hearing the death of her husband, Ni Layonsari finally killed herself to follow her husband.
