Unlike the Red Lawar which uses the blood of chickens, pigs, or ducks as a seasoning mixture, White Lawar only uses grated coconut as its basic ingredient. That's why this lawar is called White Lawar, because the predominant white color comes from the color of grated coconut.

In addition to grated coconut, other basic ingredients of this lawar are shredded meat such as chicken, pork, or duck and boiled vegetables. To make the taste and appearance different from other lawar dishes, White Lawar only uses long beans as a complementary vegetable. Even so, this food is still rich in nutrients because chicken contains protein while grated coconut contains calories. So, your nutritional needs will be complete by eating this food.

In order to make the White Lawar taste more delicious, they also use base genep as the additional seasoning. It consists of shallots, garlic, cayenne pepper, slices, pepper, candlenut, and others. Stew meat, vegetables, and grated coconut are mixed with base genep that has been sauteed before. Coupled with herbs commonly known as salt, brown sugar, and lime leaves. The mixing process is stirred by hand. So that the seasonings, vegetables, and meat are mixed evenly. With this unique process, this food definitely has a high quality and the taste is very delicious.

Besides in traditional markets, you can also find White Lawar in modern restaurants in Bali. In a restaurant, white lawar is usually used as a companion dish for the main menu of Betutu Chicken. The combination of both is quite interesting and certainly can make you addicted. Muslim tourists can also try this food because it is halal.
