Having A Great Surfing At Medewi Beach.
Located in the coastal area, Jembrana regency covers many beautiful beaches which the visitors must visit. Even for snorkelling or just sunbathing. However, some beaches offers none of them to do because of the black sand in their area, it will feel extremely hot and uncomfortable on your skin if you do so. But, this exotic black sand beaches will attract your attention in different way especially if you are looking for surfing spot. It is very common that this stunning black sand beaches owns a great waves to surf.
Surf on Medewi Beach
One of the attractive beaches suitable for surfing activities is Medewi Pekutatan Beach in Jembrana. This beach is located in Medewi Village, Pekutatan Sub-district, Jembrana Regency, West Bali. From Denpasar city, it is 72 km travel time and takes around 2 hours to get there. Meanwhile, from the Denpasar-Gilimanuk highway, Medewi Beach is only 100 m away. Along the way to this beach, you will pass through the rice fields area owned by locals. It can soothe your eyes during your long trip.
Medewi Beach has different contours on its east and west sides. On the east side of the beach, the beach contour is in the form of black sand, gray-colored rocks that tend to relatively big and lots of gravel. While on the west side of the beach is more sandy and relatively consisted of few rock beaches. With this type of contours, Medewi Beach is not appropriate for sunbathing. As you can imagine the pain occcured if you lay on the gravel .
However, if you want to surf, this place is the perfect one. Beginner and professional surfers can freely surf here. This is because the sloping beach contours on the west side and there are southward indentations. This topography produces big and long waves. So, it fits you to surf here. If you are not good at surfing, come in the noon to enjoy the magical sunset on Medewi Beach. In fact, several benches are provided to admire the sunset here. The unspoiled village atmosphere makes you free to enjoy the area of Bali that untouched by many tourists.
The main occupation of Medewi villager is fisherman, therefore, many fishing boats leaning on the other side of the beach is all you see here. This view will add beautiful atmosphere to your noon time while accompanied by the sun that begins to fall. Although, it is in a quiet village, this beach already has supporting facilities such as public toilets, swimming pools, parking lots, and traditional massage services. Actually, even there is a surfboard rental place near the beach. Exciting isn't?
The best time to surf at Medewi Beach is on August because the waves' condition is very ideal for surfing when it can reach 3 - 4 metres. Please avoid surfing here when the wave height reaches 6 metres. Beside it is being too risky, the waves will be too difficult to conquer.
