This place must also be included in the list of trips when you come to Bali, especially in Jembrana Regency. So, let’s get closer to turtles in Perancak Turtle Conservation!

Perancak Turtle Conservation

Perancak Turtle Conservation is the only turtle conservation located in the West Bali region. The address is in Perancak Village, Jembrana District, Jembrana Regency. This conservation is a bit hidden, right behind an old hotel. If this is your first visit, you should ask the surrounding residents in the Perancak Village area. Believe us, it isn’t enough to rely only on a maps application. When you pass the old building and start entering the green forest area, you will hear the waves from the distance. Well, this is a sign that you have arrived at Kurma Asih Turtle Conservation.

This conservation has been established for 22 years. It all started from the awareness of the pioneer to stop the act of hunting wild turtles in Perancak Village. But, you can’t interact directly with hundreds of sea turtles like in other breeding sites in Bali. There are only three turtles left in brackish water ponds. These turtles are used as educational media. The types are also different: Hawksbill Turtle, Lekang Turtle, and Leatherback Turtle with an age range of one to three years. Remember, it is forbidden to touch the turtle in the pond! Because they are very sensitive. Even though you can only see three turtles, you are more likely to get to know them closer.

In one conservation patrol, you can save around 100 to 200 eggs. The turtle eggs are taken and then moved to the Hatched Shelter in Kurma Asih, so that it can be monitored easily. Uniquely, you can adopt these eggs! Your name will be written on a small board and then placed around a pile of beach sand which is an artificial nest for hatching the eggs. Complete with information on the type of sea turtle, date of adoption up to the estimated date of hatching. Three months later when the eggs hatch, they will be returned to the sea. Well, this release process is what visitors are waiting for. Certainly, this exciting activity doesn't take place every day. Given the turtle nesting period that only occurs in two to eight years.

If you want to visit, Turtle Conservation in Perancak is equipped with several facilities, like toilets and food stalls. So after looking at sea turtles in a breeding place, you can sit back on the beach. Enjoy some snacks that are sold in stalls while talking about these protected animals with the officers. Therefore, the place for turtle conservation can be the right choice for educational tourism in Bali.
