The Artificial Sumampan Gianyar Waterfall.

Bali is the perfect island to enjoy the beauty of nature. There is a lot of things you can explore: beaches, hills, and waterfalls. Well this time, we will discuss a tourist attraction which is relatively new and located in the village of Sumampan, Kemenuh, Gianyar. It’s called Sumampan Waterfall.

The waterfall of Sumampan falls from a high stone wall up to 10 meter-high, surrounded by green plants and natural stones with unique carvings. The air is also cool, so very suitable for you who are bored with sunbathing activities on the beach. Like most other tourist attractions in Bali, around the waterfall there are many spots to take pictures. However, before you go there, it’s good to know the weather forecast first, to avoid rain. When it rains, the road becomes very slippery, because the position of the waterfall is located across the rocky river.

As mentioned above, the tourist attraction of Sumampan Waterfall is still relatively new. Therefore, the infrastructure is not good enough. Plus, according to local residents, the waterfall area is privately owned.

To get there, you have to travel from Denpasar for about 40 minutes. Either using two-wheeled vehicles or four wheels. However, your trip will be easier if you use a motorcycle. Arriving at the vehicle parking area, your adventure will begin!

The access road to get to the waterfall, which can also only be traversed with footpaths, haven’t been fully developed. This path is in the middle of the farm, so you must be extra careful. After going through the path in the middle of the farm, you have to go down a narrow step. Indeed, it is enough to drain energy to go to the location of the waterfall. But when you get there, your fatigue will pay off with beautiful natural scenery surrounded by cool, fresh air.

Sumampan Waterfall does look natural. But you know, this waterfall was created by human hands! Yes, the flow of water in this waterfall is sourced from residents' irrigated rice fields. With water from the rice fields, it's no wonder that the water is very clean. Likewise with the rocks around the waterfall. On these rocks, there are unique carvings that attract the attention of tourists. The carving is the work of a local artist, Nyoman Retana, which was made in 2018.

Although it is a new natural destination in Bali, the popularity of the Sumampan waterfall is increasing day by day. Especially among young people who like selfies. So, don't miss it!.
