Beji Guwang: Challenging But Stunning Canyon.
As a new tourism object, Bali hides a stunning canyon which is still lesser-explored by the tourist. This beautiful canyon is placed on Sahadewa Street, Banjar Wangbung, Guwang Village, Sukawati, Gianyar Regency. To reach this site, first, you can find a temple near Sukawati Art Market which is the entrance to the Beji Guwang Canyon. Next, you have to climb dozens of stairs with a fairly high distance. Beji Guwang itself means a natural shower in Guwang Village. These showers are sacred according to the locals. All showers are located among the winding canyons, making it safer you are accompanied with some local tour guides who can tell you which areas are sacred or can be visited freely.
Arrived at Beji Guwang, you can walk through 3 canyons with an estimated time of around four hours. But if you feel it is too far away, you can cut the road through a small waterfall. This path is quite challenging because it requires you to go up and down the cliffs and cross the river with water level as high as an adult. Even so, you can enjoy the magnificent the Beji Guwang Canyon wall accompanied by the natural sound of drops of water from the roots of dangling trees and rocks. Because it is a new tourist hot spot, Beji Guwang does not provide many supporting facilities. It is safer if you use the services from a local guide to help carrying your luggage and show you the way to get through the slippery and winding path. In addition, for safety reason, the local guide will stay connected with the upstream officers to monitor the water conditions in the Beji Guwang Canyon. It is recommended to visit as your summer getaway because at this time the water level in Beji Guwang is at low tide. Meanwhile, the water level will be higher up to 5 meters in the rainy season, so be extra careful to the holes and rocks where you stand.
You don't need to worry if you are starving here because some food stalls around Beji Guwang sell various snacks and soft drinks at affordable prices. You can visit here at 08:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. However, you should not visit Beji Guwang too late because minimal lighting conditions will make it difficult for you to see the path clearly.
