Tracing The Origins And Our Species At Ancient Human Museum.

The attraction of the island of Bali does not only lies on its natural beauty. You can explore many unique places in every corner of Bali during your vacation. In Jembrana Regency, for example. Although it does not offer you many tourist attractions like other districts, it is still worth to visit. Ancient Human Museum can be one of the good reasons for you to come and explore Jembrana. What's in the Ancient Human Museum?

This museum is located in Melaya Sub-district, Jembrana Regency, close to Gilimanuk Harbor that connects the islands of Bali and Java. The distance from this harbor to the museum is about 1,1 km or 6 minutes driving. While the distance from downtown Jembrana to the museum is around 41 km or 55 minutes driving. However, if you leave from Denpasar it will take a quite long time, that is about 127 km or 3 hours drive with normal traffic. Likewise, the distance from Ngurah Rai Airport, you will spend 3 hours and 30 minutes traveling with a distance of 139 km.

The area of the Ancient Human Museum covers around 5 hectares and it was inaugurated in 1993 by the Governor of Bali at that time, Ida Bagus Oka. This museum is dedicated to bringing you the information about the era when the human already discovered metals which was around 600 BC to 800. Some of the collections are pots, stone jewelry, jars, bronze, jugs, bowls, plows, sarcophagi, and various other items. In addition, the Ancient Human Museum has a collection of 137 human skeletons and 73 other collections that you can enjoy. A collection of plates, pottery, shells, and early human accessories back at the old-time are displayed to increase your knowledge. Surely, this place is very fascinating. Strolling around and meeting your ancient relatives will give you an insight of how ancient human beings were at that time and how they lived in the past. All of these collections can be found on the third floor of the museum. Whereas, the second floor is used to store plows or bronze equipment for hunting and pottery for the graves. Meanwhile, the first floor of the museum is the place to store human fossils and coffins (sarcophagus).

To enjoy the extraordinary ancient atmosphere, you can visit the museum at 08:00 - 16:00. Come on weekdays because the museum is closed at weekends. The museum has provided a large parking area and clean visitor toilets.

This museum is suitable for family trip who want to introduce Indonesian ancient human history to their children, local and foreign tourists are also highly recommended to visit this museum in order to be familiar with Indonesian history. To preserve the collections and historic objects in the museum, please do not bring food or drinks from outside. Besides, make sure to be extra careful to hold the objects displayed in the museum.
