The name of this temple is the same as the place. This temple was built since the 11th century AD Pura Batukaru is also called Pura Padma Bhuwana. In Balinese language, it has the meaning as one of the holy temples of the nine temples on the island of Bali.

On the temple grounds, there are other supporting buildings that have tiered roofs. The roof is made of black palm fiber. While the wooden walls have beautiful intricate carvings. Inside the Pura Batukaru there are holy water sources. It is located near an artificial lake before entering the temple. There are two holy water sources in this temple. The first holy water source is located in the temple area. It is usually taken by the Penyadran for the benefit of traditional and religious ceremonies. Whereas other holy water sources are located outside the temple area, used by the Penyadran to purify themselves before the temple prayer.

Self-purification activities are carried out by washing your face or bathing in the holy water. Judging from the existence of these holy water sources, it shows that the Batukaru Temple has been used as a place of meditation by spiritual figures long ago. Because before meditation begins, spiritual leaders are also encouraged to purify themselves.

There are some areas that tourists may not enter, only for Penyadran for certain purposes. So you should pay attention to the signs around the temple. If you are interested in seeing the ceremony at this temple, come at the time of piodalan. That is on the birthday of Batukaru Temple, held every Thursday after Galungan Day. Hindus will come to worship and ask for blessings in this temple.
