Garuda Wisnu Kencana, The Tallest Statue In Indonesia.

The name Garuda Wisnu Kencana is certainly familiar to your ears. You can visit the Dewa Wisnu statue and his ‘Garuda’ bird in the Uluwatu area. If you've already visited this are some times ago, this statue might still be separated as two different statues. But they’re now united as one.

This maze-like limestone cliffs will direct you to the statue of Dewa Wisnu who is riding a Garuda Bird. This statue isn’t just an ordinary symbol. Dewa Wisnu is one of the legendary figures, believed by the Balinese people. In Garuda Wisnu Kencana Park (GWK), you can read the story of how Garuda could become the companion of Dewa Wisnu. You can also watch some interesting stories in the theater inside GWK.

If you go to the park by driving you own vehicle, there’s a large parking lot available. But if you come with a driver, you can let your driver go to the nearest shop to sit or to buy snacks while waiting for you. Anyway, from the parking lot, you’ll be escorted using the official shuttle provided by GWK. But if you come with Sarbagita (public bus in Bali), the bus stop for passengers is right in front of GWK counter.

After arriving, you can see three greeting statues near the counter. Also, enjoy Balinese gamelan players who perform traditional music that will create a peaceful mood. After buying a ticket, you can enter and choose which area you’d like to explore. Before entering, you can see several place to buy a meal and souvenir shops.

Passing through the gift shop, you will find several theater choices and the show schedule. Buy tickets at the theater counter if you’re interested in watching the show. But if you want to get around, you can pass this area and walk straight towards the statue of Dewa Wisnu and Garuda bird. You can still also see the old statues on a cliff. But remember, you have to wear a cloth that is lent by the GWK management, because you will pass the temple to get here.

You can continue your journey to the latest Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue, where Dewa Wisnu is riding his Garuda. So, it’s time to take some pictures of this magnificent statue! Reportedly, the height of this statue is around 120 meters, higher than the Statue of Liberty in America. So we should be proud having this interesting tourist attractions!

Besides admiring the statue, you can also enjoy the lotus pool which is located directly opposite GWK. The blooming lotus flowers are very beautiful. After that, you can continue the journey to the GWK Monument. But beforehand, stop by to buy some snacks and drinks in one of the food trucks around the location. If you are tired of walking, you can also rent a bicycle by just downloading an online application to go to the monument. In the monument, you can look at various photos of the inauguration of GWK.

If you want to go there, you should wear a hat and sunglasses. Because the heat will definitely make your skin burn. Don't forget to use sunscreen before leaving. Also bring your best camera, because there are many interesting places you can capture around the Garuda WIsnu Kencana Cultural Park.
