Witnessing The Beauty Of The Full Moon From Purnama Beach.

Gianyar Regency is famous for its attractions such as Tampaksiring Temple, Tegalalang Rice Filed, Goa Gajah, and Tegenungan Waterfall. However apparently, this regency also has a natural beach tourism. Eventhough the beaches in Gianyar aren’t as many as in other regency like Denpasar or Badung, the beauty is just the same. You can visit one of the beaches in Gianyar as an alternative place to enjoy the warm sunshine and the smell of the ocean. It’s called Purnama Beach.

Purnama beach is one of the black sand beaches in Gianyar. This beach is still unknown for many tourists, because so many tourists choose to visit another places that are already well-known in Gianyar. Since it's very quiet, the calm atmosphere will be your companion. Certainly suitable for you who need some peaceful spots to hide from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Besides enjoying the soft black sand, you will also find some large coral rocks by the beach. When the waves hit the reef, it will produce a subtle and melodious sound. This natural sound can be a relaxation therapy for your soul. Usually, the waves at Purnama Beach aren’t too big. But it will be getting bigger some times. When the waves are bigger, many local surfers come to practice their skill.

At the beach, you can also sunbathe under the sun, play the beach sands while collecting some shells, fishing, taking pictures, or just listen to the sounds of the waves. 

On the beach, there is also a pelinggih, commonly used by Hindus to pray. Usually on certain days, people also come to hold religious ceremonies at Purnama Beach. Therefore, the beach is often considered sacred by the local community. Both local and foreign tourists have to keep their good behavior while visiting the beach.

Purnama Beach offers something unique. Just like the name suggests “Purnama” – which means full moon – you will adore the perfect round shape of the moon from the beach. The moonlight reflected in the ocean and the bright white light of the full moon are the best things you’ll get during your vacation! That’s the reason why, many local residents come to the beach at full moon. While waiting for the moon to come, you can also witness the beautiful sunset. 

Even though the beach isn’t too crowded with visitors, you can find quite complete facilities. There are stalls and restaurants that provide local and Asian menus, also various type of hotels and villas. You can even set up a camp around the beach area! It’s fun, right? You can blend and enjoy the nature to the fullest.

The location of Purnama Beach is in Banjar Lumpang Telabah, Sukawati Village, Sukawati District, Gianyar Regency. The distance is about 11 km from the city of Denpasar. From the Ida Bagus Mantra By Pass Road, continue straight until you find the road sign leading to Keramas Beach. Then turn right and you will arrive at Purnama Beach.
