You might be familiar with Ulun Danu Lake in Tabanan. A majestic temple in the middle of the lake with a multilevel meru. Day 1

1. Alas Kedaton

A small forest is located in the middle of the rice fields at Kukuh Village, Marga Sub-district, Tabanan Regency. Inside the forest, there is a small beautiful temple called Alas Kedaton. Its natural environment creates a calm and sacred atmosphere. There is a festival that usually held at this temple every 210 days a year on a specific holy Tuesday (Anggarkasih Medangsia) according to Balinese Hindu Calendar. Balinese Hindu community will come to the temple to worship and bring the offerings. They request for prosperity and security from God. In addition, there are around 2000 monkeys inhabit inside the forest that becomes another tourist attraction from this site. Some souvenir shops, clean toilets, and food stalls can be found near the area as well. Alas Kedaton's operational hours start at 08:00 until 19:00 every day at local time.


2. Bedugul Traditional Fruits and Vegetables Market

During your visit in Bedugul, it’s a must to visit the fruit and vegetable market in Candikuning Village. This market is located next to a large corn statue towards the Bali Botanic Garden and Beratan Lake. Bedugul Traaditional Market provides lots of fresh vegetable, fruit and ornamental plant. The ranks of shop and kiosk sell sub-tropical vegetables that only grow in a cool and fresh climate like Bedugul. You can also find many other tropical fruits such as papaya, banana, rambutan, mangosteen, strawberries and many others. Various spices such as cloves, nutmeg, pepper and turmeric can also be found here. If you are also interested in ornamental plants, Bedugul Market offers a variety of beautiful orchids, roses, hibiscus and begionas.


3. Ulun Danu Beratan Temple


The iconic place that you must visit next is Ulun Danu Temple. It is located on the western side of Beratan Lake. This significant temple was built in the early 17th century, served to worship God's majesty. Balinese people all around Bali usually come and pray for their succesful harvest, prosperity, human welfare and the sustainability of the universe. Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is open every day, starting at 08.00 - 18.00. It is located on Jalan Raya Bedugul, Candikuning, Baturiti, Tabanan Regency. If you come from Kuta or Seminyak, it takes around 2 hours 15 minutes’ drive here. Meanwhile, if you come from Monkey Forest, Ubud it will take about 1 hour 40 minutes’ drive.


4. Tanah Lot

The last place is a Bali’s not-to-be-missed icon, Tanah Lot Temple. It takes place in Beraban Village, Tabanan. This beautiful temple becomes part of Tanah Lot Beach area and stands on a strong rock. The uniqueness of Tanah Lot Temple is related to the myth of the local community about the sacred snake lives in the Temple. This snake is believed to be a guardian and a savior of a disturbing evil attack. You can come to Tanah Lot Temple when the sea water is at low tide. Please act and dress respectfully when you are entering the shrine just like any other holy places in Bali. Women in period also can not be allowed entering the temple.
